Spitfire Legacy

On the 8th May 1945, thousands of British and Allied soldiers, sailors, airmen and women marched through London to celebrate the end of the Second World War in Europe, VE Day, with the notable exception of the brave Polish RAF pilots who were denied permission to join the VE Day march. Our client, former Royal Marine Scott Booth made it his one-man mission to right this wrong.

Laguna's Spitfire Legacy case study

For the forgotten few

In October 2016 having ticked off his bucket list dream of flying a Spitfire, former Royal Marine Scott Booth happened to spot a glass-topped coffee table made from an old Spitfire engine, which he thought he’d like too. This started Scott on a new journey that would take him from searching for an old Spitfire engine of his own to restore to then discovering that the one he purchased in France was the engine that belonged to one of the most decorated RAF Spitfire pilots of the Battle of Britain, Piotr Laguna, to find out more about him and the other Polish pilots he flew with and the recognition they were so wrongly denied for political reasons, but without whom the outcome of the Second World War could have been so different.

So to help tell this story and right this wrong, we offered our services free of charge to create a brand, a logo, a website, copywriting and design, among other things for Laguna’s Spitfire Legacy, which as result has led Scott to; connect with Piotr Laguna’s son in Australia, gain major commercial sponsorship, get deserved recognition and support from the Polish Government for his efforts, not to mention gaining a following of nearly of over 20,000 people from across the world joining the cause, increasing it from the 800 he had when we started. Now Scott intends to build a flying Spitfire from as many original parts as he can, with Piotr Laguna’s squadron markings (having also got permission from the RAF and the CAA) to help further bring this story to many more people and to right this wrong these ‘forgotten’ few have endured and who are owed so much by so many.
